Why are there so many car accidents in Hall County?
Gainesville has grown and continues to grow. In 2010, Hall County had a population of around 180,000.00 people. Today, Hall County’s population is over 245,000 people: a growth rate of over 25%. Our little city just isn’t so little anymore, and being that this is Georgia, pretty much everyone drives…everywhere. Driving is just part of life, and unfortunately, the reality of driving as part of our daily routines means that our chances of being involved in a car accident increase. In 2021, Hall County performed a crash profile and undertook the effort to compile some data to see where the most car accidents in Hall County were taking place. In 2021, there were approximately 9,629 car accidents in Hall County. Of those accidents, 1,923 of them involved injuries with 2,839 people reporting injuries because of those collisions. 25 of these were fatal accidents, with 29 people being killed as a result. That is a lot of accidents and injuries over the course of one year. Unsurprisingly, the most accidents occurred both at intersections where there has historically been the most amount of traffic and at areas close to I-985, where again, traffic is the heaviest.
